Introduction

Amit P Kumar is currently Chief of Technology & Head-New Business, at Reliance Telematics. Amit secured his B.Tech.in Mechanical Engineering in 1994 from Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), New Delhi. Prior to joining Reliance Telematics, Amit was responsible for designing and formulating Integrated Transport Management System & Telematics business Process for Right Delivery for Reliance Retail.

Before that, Amit was Head-IT Initiative & Telematics for Mahindra Logistics (An Independent division of M/s Mahindra & Mahindra Limited), where he played an important role in transforming the Company to a technology savvy company. He led a successful initiative on telematics with respect to transport visibility. His one of the initiatives with a reputed multinational client won M&M the best IT Implementation award (Most Innovative) by PC Quest’2006.

Prior to Mahindra Logistics, Amit had stint with entrepreneurship in the field of IT education, ERP Consultancy. During this period, he developed a business model on B2B Barter trade and was instrumental in launch of cashfreetrading.com based at Delhi. Prior to that he worked with India’s super star international trading company, MMTC Limited (A 7 Billion USD co.), in various capacities for about 7 yrs, during which period he was deputed to a green field Steel Plant Project (NINL) as Head - Project Procurement(Auxillary & Utility), where he handled 200 million USD purchase and contract management.

Presently, Amit is working on Startegy on integrated Telematics based frieght Exchange System in India.

Amit is in demand as a speaker and panelist at logistics and transportation focused industry gathering in Asia and was a speaker at eyefortransport’s global summit on transport, India’2007 at Mumbai, and is also sought after as an industry expert on Distribution & Logistics, Telematics, 4PL and Barter.
